A decision on Rob Purdie's future at the club will be made in the next two weeks.
The versatile current Oldham man will remain at Edgar Street until January 29th, seeing him available for two more League matches and the FA Cup trip to Sheff Weds.
Oldham boss Paul Dickov told Purdie in pre-season that he would never play for his Latics side and the Boundary Park outfit are keen to offload the 28 year old. However his League One wages are not within the Bulls financial reach so a compromise deal will have to be reached, likely meaning a further loan deal until the end of his current deal that expires in the summer.
The Bulls pursuit of Tony James is also likely to intensify despite Paul Pescisolido's refusal of offers from the Bulls so far. The popular 33 year old is keen on a return to Edgar Street at the earliest opportunity and was a visitor on Saturday with his Burton match cancelled. Even if a deal cannot be completed during the transfer window it is expected that he will make a summer switch back to the city.
The most pressing decision to be made is that of the left back role. Joe Heath has deputised for Ryan Valentine for the last eight matches and is keen for an extension to his deal with his future looking bleak at Exeter.
Any deals inward would likely have to be balanced with deals outward. There is currently no news on whether Redditch are looking to extend the loan deal for Sam Malsom, and none of the other fringe players appear to be close to moves with a long list of non-league clubs struggling to finance deals after a long winter of postponements and falling gates.
