Preview: Aldershot vs Bulls

The Bulls make their first return trip of the season to face Aldershot at the Recreation Ground.

The two sides met just two months ago at Edgar Street, sharing a 2-2 draw. The Bulls have scored two goals in each of the last five matches against the Shots, with the first of those games back in 2006 with Stuart Fleetwood scoring, and Ryan Green and Rob Purdie also featuring. Sam Gwynne was also on the bench.

Aldershot are currently 16th in the table, six points clear of the drop zone. But they have won just two of their eight home games and scored just six goals at the Rec. Pre-season promotion hopes have been well and truly wiped out by their front line problems. Former regular goal-getter Marvin Morgan hasn't scored in eight games, Damian Spencer remains sidelined, and rookie Jermaine McGlashan still only has his goal at Edgar Street from 20 appearances. Several fans are calling for the departure of manager Kevin Dillon and those calls will only get lounder with a loss on Monday.

The Bulls travel to the Rec in different form to the previous match between the sides. In November they came into the game on the back of two wins in three. Since then they haven't won a League match stretching to seven games. There is a renewed belief in the squad after fighting back twice against Torquay. While the fans continue to question the defence as a whole, reinforcements will be unlikely to arrive before tomorrow's game with the board likely to prefer a measured approach rather than panic acquisitions.

Aldershot Town vs Hereford United, Recreation Ground, Monday 3rd January, 3.00pm.
