Capaldi expected to stay with Shrimps

Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy has said that he would like to keep former Hereford United defender Tony Capaldi.

The Irishman's short term deal with the Shrimps ended yesterday.

"We have spoken to Tony and offered him a new deal and we definitely want him to stay," said McIlroy.

"He has shown his quality in the past few weeks and played a big part in our success."

Hereford United play Morecambe next Tuesday at Edgar Street.

Meanwhile it has been revealed that last November Jamie Pitman offered a loan deal to Ipswich for Shane O'Connor but the defender turned down the chance to come to Hereford.
