Herefordshire Council has welcomed the news that Hereford United has secured its ground leases from Carillion Richardson. This opens up the opportunity to agree a new long term lease agreement with the council, which owns the land at Edgar Street.
Councillor Roger Phillips, leader of the council, commented: “We are delighted with this news as it means that in the longer term the club can seek commercial and partners to develop the ground, boost revenues and help in making that section of the city more attractive to visitors, tourism and business – especially if a new hotel and conference centre could be developed”.
“We have had very positive discussions with the club, which is of great importance to the city, and we are looking forward to working with them to help them achieve their exciting future plans”.
