The other is Shrewsbury, who won at Macclesfield thanks to a single third minute goal. The Bulls are one of seven sides on four points with Cheltenham, who beat Crewe 3-2, Chesterfield and Port Vale, who drew with each other 1-1, Rotherham, who got a goalless draw at Morecambe, and Aldershot, who beat Southend 1-0.

In the opening day of the Conference both relegated sides won by 1-0 scorelines with Grimsby overcoming big-spending Crawley, and Darlington beating Newport. Forest Green lost 3-1 at Mansfield, and Kidderminster needed a late penalty to beat York 2-1.
