Jamaican international O'Neill Thompson has signed for the Bulls on loan from Barnsley for the season.
The 6ft 4in central defender will form a formidable partnership with Janos Kovacs. He was due to sign for Darlington while boss Simon Davey was there, after Davey took him Barnsley last summer prior to his dismissal.
He played just twice for the Tykes, and also made two appearances for Burton on loan, but he has collected 21 international caps and played two seasons in Norwegian football.
