News Round Up

Leyton Orient have named Russell Slade as their manager until the end of the season in a bid to avoid relegation to League Two. They currently sit outside the bottom four only on goal difference, with Tranmere holding a game in hand. Gary Johnson will be named Peterboro manager today following their drop to League One. Shrewsbury's team coach was involved in an accident on the M6 as they returned from their loss at Torquay on Saturday. There were no injuries.

Darlington have confirmed that veteran striker Noel Whelan has left the club. Morecambe have signed winger Neil Wainwright to a new one year deal. There is still no news on a diagnosis for ex-Bull Adam Stansfield, who remains in hospital. Mansfield have made their Chief Executive and Operations Manager redundant to cut costs after the club failed to challenge for a play-off spot.

The Football League are reported to have received £1.7million from the FA to move next season's play-offs to accomodate the Champions League final. The deal is claimed to include a £500,000 lump sum and eight corporate boxes 'for clubs' use' throughout the season for each Wembley match. Forest Green are said to be £9,000 short of meeting their first debt payment which is due on Wednesday.

Histon's chairman Tony Roach has resigned along with club secretary, and wife, Julie saying he cannot work with the rest of the current board. Rumours have now resurfaced about the club's financial state.
