A hard fought game - Turner

Hereford United manager Graham Turner told BBC Hereford and Worcester that he was pleased with the ground-out result at Darlington this afternoon.

"It was a hard fought game," said Turner.

"I think we looked a little bit laboured. We just lost a little bit of a thread we've been working on in training.

"You play well and win games, you don't play so well and you have to grind out results.

"It was a good finish from Marc Pugh when we needed it most

"One or two let offs but equally we had some good chances and it's a good clean sheet so, all in all, four consecutive wins now, we delighted with that."

Asked about the front partnership of Mathieu Manset and Jake Jervis, Turner revealed that he thought there were periods in the game when they looked tired.

"There are a lot of demands physically on them. They are capable of causing problems and they deserve a goal or two and I think they've worked tremendously hard for us again today."

The 'Beast' had one particular acrobatic chance this afternoon.

"He's got that ability," continued Turner. "We've seen him do it in training, we've seen him do all sorts of things in training which just haven't come off for him in matches at the moment.

"He's a very skillful big lad and as he grows in confidence I think it will come off for him."
