A decision whether Saturday's game between Hereford United and Macclesfield Town will go ahead is expected to be taken tomorrow.
The untimely death of Macclesfield manager Keith Alexander has led to discussions between the two clubs.
Macclesfield chairman Mike Rance has spoken to Hereford counterpart Graham Turner about Saturday's match at Edgar Street.
Rance told Press Association Sport: "Graham knew Keith very well and we've both agreed that Keith's family should be the key arbiters in deciding whether Saturday's match should go ahead.
"The players are back in tomorrow and, after speaking to Keith's wife Helen, we expect a decision will be made in the next 24 hours."
Meanwhile Turner has paid a tribute to Alexander.
"We were shocked and saddend to hear of the death of Keith Alexander. Saturday's match against Macclesfield Town now becomes of small significance compared to this news.
"Our condolences go out to his family and friends and all at Macclesfield Town."
