News Round Up

Cheltenham have signed Nottm Forest midfielder Matt Thornhill on a months loan. The 21 year old has 38 games and five goals for Forest over the past three seasons. The Robins have axed goalkeeper coach Barry Richardson, who also acted as sub keeper, apparently for budget reasons. They do not plan to replace him until next season.

Lincoln have extended the loan of teenage Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker until the end of the season. He has played nine times since arriving at the club in October. Grimsby have signed Leicester forward Ashley Chambers until the end of the season. He scored once in three games at Wycombe earlier in the season.

Aldershot midfielder Scott Donnelly has told the club he wants to leave for Wycombe, after former Shots boss Gary Waddock had a bid turned down for him. Burton keeper Kevin Poole is the oldest current Football League player after turning out as a late sub on Tuesday night at the age of 46. He is expected to start for them on Saturday with first choice Artur Krysiak suspended.

Northampton have loaned defender Chris McCready to Tranmere for the remainder of the season. He spent the 06/07 season at Prenton Park, but has made only 13 League starts for the Cobblers since signing in the summer. Chesterfield have signed former Cheltenham loanee Frankie Artus on a months loan from Bristol City. Barnet have released teenage striker Elliott Charles by mutual consent after spending most of the season out on loan.

Back in the world of Chester non-owner Stephen Vaughan, he is claiming to have spoken to boxing promoter Frank Warren about investing in the club. Meanwhile the local press say that just 191 of their 425 crowd on Tuesday paid on the night, totalling gate receipts of little more than £2,000 - their only home game in more than a month with the main fans group about to launch an official boycott of the club.
