Hereford United chairman Graham Turner has pledged his intention to try and give as much of the work as possible in re-developing the Blackfriars End of Edgar Street to Herefordshire business.
Whilst there is still some way to go before building takes place Turner sounded optimistic in his latest interview with the OS.
"The archaeological dig will take place on Monday. Obviously we are hoping that nothing will be found. We needed the Bat survey to ensure no bats were present and we needed the archaelogical dig to make sure there are no ruins there.
"After that once we have firmed up with the Richardsons over the design of the stand we can proceed with planning applications.
"We did have a meeting with the architect yesterday. We went through quite a number of details - lighting, vehicle access to the pitch, all those sorts of things that need to be taken care of at this stage.
"The council will have to agree to the outline of it before we go into a detailed planning application.
"We know what we want - we will work hard to get that. And there is what the Richardsons want and what the Council want from the site. I'm sure sensible discussion will lead to a positive conclusion and we can push it on.
"I'm told demolition of the old stand and the construction of the new one can be done fairly rapidly. We are looking into various options in terms of building materials, it's not a foregone conclusion it will be concrete, modern technology is moving to other substances.
"We've got a file full of construction companies who have heard we are about to build and there are some fairly local - the demolition ones, steel fabricators.
"We would like to keep as much work in Herefordshire as we possibly can.
"We are obliged to go for the cheapest, all things being equal, but we hope to see some of our local companies being involved with it."
