News Round Up

Morecambe have signed Doncaster keeper Ben Smith as cover for the injured Barry Roche. The 23 year old has played in Rovers' Carling Cup matches this season. Darlington forward Noel Whelan has been ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring injury, after lasting just 30 minutes of his debut. The Quakers have also lost midfielder Chris Lumsdon until December after he had back surgery.

Grimsby have signed Derby midfielder Arnaud Mendy on a months loan. The French teenager made his Rams debut in their last match. The Mariners have also signed teenage defender Bradley Wood to a four year deal. Accrington lost 2-1 to Austin Aztecs in a fundraiser last night, but the game attracted just 301 supporters.

Weymouth's future is back in doubt after former owner Malcolm Curtis demanded repayment of two loans of which he is guarantor. The debts, to Carlsberg and Barclays, total £221,000 and the club have already admitted they have no way of paying them. Farsley Celtic also face further problems after the taxman rejected their CVA proposal. The club only won a last minute reprieve last month thanks to new funding offers, but the taxman has now blocked the deal.

Barnet have loaned teenage striker Elliott Charles to Ebbsfleet for a month. He has made six sub appearances for the Bees this season.
