McParland Sacked By Magpies

Merely being in the play-offs simply isn't good enough for Notts County, who have sacked boss Ian McParland today.

The former striker won only 28 of 103 games in charge at the club but, while their 19th place finish last season was acceptable, being unbeaten at home and four points short of the top spot was simply not sufficient to keep the mysterious club owners happy.

The Magpies have also, after further talks with the Football League, cut all ties with Russell King. He is currently embroiled in a Jersey court case that has seen the court freeze £1.9million in assets. A statement from the club says the current board is entirely in charge of the club.

However one man that won't be getting the chop anytime soon is Shrewsbury boss Paul Simpson, who has agreed a 12 month extension to his current deal that will take him through to the summer of 2012.
