Sponsorship by Hereford based Companies

There are not too many Hereford or Herefordshire based companies who sponsor sports club or persons.

Probably the best known was the main sponsor of Hereford United - Sun Valley until they changed their name to Cargill.

Another well known name was Hereford cider makers Bulmers who put over £1m into Leeds United but next to nothing into Hereford United. And of course there is M&M Direct based at Leominster who have been supporting the Bulls for many years.

Other well known 'Herefordshire' brands are Westons and Tyrells but neither, as yet, has put much money into sport.

However today comes news that the Spectra Group who are based at Ledbury have decided to sponsor golfer Pete James for the next five years.

James is twenty-two years old and based at Hereford’s Belmont Golf Club where he has been playing since he was twelve. He joined the professional ranks after a successful year playing on the Celtic Pro Tour which culminated in his winning the amateur Order of Merit. He is now playing on the PGA EuroPro Golf Tour.

Simon Davies, Managing Director of Spectra Group, commented on the sponsorship.

"This sponsorship is an important part of our marketing strategy to raise the visibility of the Spectra brand with new and existing customers. It will provide Pete James with the opportunity to enter a wide range of tournaments in both the UK and Europe."

So who are the Spectra Group?

The Spectra Group of companies, based in Herefordshire, provides a full range of telecommunication services and solutions to clients operating in a many different sectors including government, defence, security and aid agencies. They have established an enviable reputation for delivering a high quality, professional service often in hazardous and hostile environments.
