Boss John Trewick has spoken to the official site about Toumani Diagouraga's move to Peterboro:
"We had Toumi on a contract because we recognise he's a fine player, but I guess that for Toumi to walk back through the door on July 2nd as our player, us having rejected an offer from Peterborough and denied him an opportunity to play in the Championship I would have thought it would have put him into some sort of bad mood. You just don't know how players will react to that circumstance. There was an offer for him that was acceptable come into the football club and Toumani's moved on."
A full audio interview is on the official site. In it Trewick notes he is still talking to a number of players, including the two midfielders mentioned last week while he is 'very close' to the last defender he wants - hinting that there could be several signings in the next few days.
Trewick also talks about the out of contract pair Kris Taylor and Ben Smith. Trewick notes Taylor asked for more money but was not offered an increase, while Smith never received a formal contract offer from the club but Trewick is open to both players approaching him for further discussions.
Meanwhile, the BBC is reporting the fee received for Toumani Diagouraga is around £200,000. Neither club has officially stated a fee, preferring it to remain 'undisclosed'.
