Sheldon back in the Conference

Former Hereford United striker Gareth Sheldon has had a good season at Tamworth. He was top scorer at the Conference North club which will play in the Conference next season.

Sheldon received two awards at Tamworth's FC end of season ceremony.

The 29-year-old striker picked up both the Supporter's Player of the Season and the Leading Scorer award, having hit 24 goals during Tamworth's Blue Square North championship winning campaign.

Sheldon signed for Hereford United at the beginning of the Bulls first season back in the League. He didn't have the best of campaigns making just eight league appearances but scored one goal in a game against Mansfield.

His contract was ended by 'mutual consent' on February 27th 2007.

Meanwhile another ex-Bull has been released by his current club with Chris Lane leaving Altrincham after two seasons. He has made over 350 appearances at Conference level for the Bulls, Southport, Leigh, Chester, Morecambe, and Alty making him the most experienced Conference player still playing.
