Chesterfield are claimed to be ready to appoint former Oldham boss John Sheridan as their new manager. The Mirror says new investors into the club want Sheridan to take over from Lee Richardson. Notts County's hopes of £5million in investment have been dashed after the unnamed trio of businessmen decided the amount was excessive. They are reported to be coming back with a revised offer to the club's board.

Stafford skipper Wayne Daniel expects the club to largely field non-contract players next season after skirting with bankruptcy this term. Fellow Conf North side Hyde United face a May 20th winding up hearing over a £200,000 tax bill. A new Merthyr Tydfil club will be forced into the Welsh League if the current side fail to survive their current crisis.

Ex-Bull John Snape wants to take the manager's job at Bromsgrove rather than follow Rod Brown to Stratford, telling the Birmingham Mail: "I've thrown my hat in the ring. It's something that would interest me. I don't know whether I will get it but I feel it's an opportunity I can't ignore. A lot of players have said 'you should go for it' and maybe it's time to stand on my own feet in management. I might end up with egg on my face. Tom might want someone with more experience but I am a local lad and I've got a decent knowledge of players."

Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson has told his squad they can leave if they 'don't fancy' the challenge of getting Crewe back into League One. The Icelandic boss says he can't afford to carry passengers next season. Leeds' play off match with Millwall will see 400 Police officers on duty. Port Vale have received an application for their manager's job from former player and current York assistant Andy Porter. He left Vale Park after 18 years when he was overlooked for the job in favour of Dean Glover.

Carlisle will retain manager Greg Abbott after talks with the club's board. A club statement cites the need for stability after having three managers in three years. Bradford have released youth coach Chris Casper due to cost-cutting. Manager Stuart McCall and assistant Waybe Jacobs have both taken 20% pay cuts.

Ex-Bull Nick Jordan has been released after a year at Exeter. The former Pompey trainee was announced as a Bulls signing last summer, but had disappeared within a week for reasons unknown. He later surfaced at Exeter but never played a game in his season at the club.
