The Northern Echo is reporting that Darlington avoided bankruptcy by hours yesterday.
The Administrator, who had been in charge for a month, was prepared to pull the plug on the club yesterday with no cash available to continue trading. Only a late injection of £150,000 from former chairman George Houghton has kept the club trading.
The money will see the club through to the end of the season with Houghton, who owns the ground as a seperate business that is not in Administration but is also for sale, saying it is the last time he will bail out the club individually: "This will last the club until the end of the season, maybe the fifth or sixth of May.
"I think that's the deadline date for Darlington for anybody coming to buy the side. Unfortunately, there's D-Days for everything and the dates for Darlington is around the May time - you need the money to keep it going through the quiet time until August.
"This is the last roll of the dice."
