The 109 Hartlepool fans would have taken a point at half time in today's League One match at Edgar Street, but would be disappointed to have not claimed three after a Jeckyll and Hyde performance from the Bulls.
By the time Steve Guinan finally poked the ball home on 18 minutes the Bulls should have already been ahead, looking far the more confident side than their injury and flu ravaged opponents, and should have been three clear by the break. The second half was the opposite, with Craig Samson producing a string of fine saves to deny the Pools a winner after Dean Beckwith was credited with looping the ball into his own net.
The low crowd of 2,490 was not entirely unexpected for the time of year, neither was the muted chorus of boos that greeted Clint Easton's late introduction.
