Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has hit back at Paul Parry's critics after the former Hereford United player was subjected to harsh criticism after deciding not to play for Wales again.
"Some of the people who are having a pop should talke a step back and think what they did in their careers," said Jones.
"He is not the only person to pull out of international teams.
"The boy has been battered from pillar to post and it just seems to be one-sided at the moment.
"He had his reasons, whether they be right or wrong, and we will stand by him.
"Everybody wants to play for their national team but he just feels he's not going to get the opportunity under the present regime.
"He's got to get his head down and I would hope and expect our fans to give him the reception that he deserves."
