In an interview on the Scunthorpe website, Gary Hooper mentioned that his spell at Edgar Street last season had kickstarted his career.
Hooper scored 12 goals for the Bulls whilst on loan from Southend and another one at Edgar Street yesterday but this one proved to be the winner for Scunthorpe.
"I had a chance in the first half and should have put that away," said Hooper. "I then took my chance in the second half and we won the game.
"It was nice to score, that's my seventh in the league for Scunthorpe now, and I managed to score 12 here while on loan last season so it felt great to get another one on this ground. I've settled in well with the lads, and have managed to do well on the pitch.
"I'd say my spell at Edgar Street last season got me the move to Scunthorpe, and I'm now doing well with them in League One."
