70 year old too good looking to be a Concession

Leeds United stewards have had to apologise to a youthful pensioner whom they accused of having a concession ticket when he was entitled to one.

The incident happened at last Saturday's match against Hereford United at Elland Road. The club did a number of ticket spot-checks on supporters in their North Stand. Stewards challenged supporters 'as to whether they were eligible to use a concessionary ticket.'

A total of eight fans were asked to leave the stadium having tried to gain entry with Junior/Senior Citizen tickets when they should have held an Adult ticket.

"Anybody trying to enter the stadium using a ticket that they are not eligible to use is actually depriving the club of income that then has a direct effect on our ability to strengthen the team or as a knock on effect of ultimately increasing the price paid by all fans," said a spokesperson for Leeds United.

"The co-operation of fans when stopped was pleasing with most being happy that we were looking at resolving the issue.

"The afternoon did have it's lighter moments and to the 6'4" 15-year-old we apologise, as we do to the 70-year-old gentleman who we all hope we look as good as when we get to that age!"
