Wycombe stengthen squad Pre-Hereford

Wycombe Wanderers have signed mid-fielder Chris Herd from Aston Villa in time for him to be in their squad to visit Edgar Street tomorrow.

19 year old Herd, who joins Wycombe initially for one month, has just completed a loan spell at Port Vale.

"Because of the injuries to Sergio Torres and Matty Bloomfield and Tommy Doherty's suspension, I felt we needed to get someone in," said Wycombe manager Paul Lambert.

"I spoke to Martin O'Neill's assistant John Robertson and he gave Chris a big recommendation. Robbo was one of the best wingers this country has ever seen so if he says the boy can do us a job then I'm happy to listen."

Meanwhile over at the Hawthorns manager Tony Mowbray has a striker injury crisis and may call Sherjill Macdonald into his squad for their game against Leicester tomorrow.

"Football is all about opportunity and there is an opportunity for one or two others as well," said the West Bromwich manager.

"Pele comes into my thoughts and Sherjill MacDonald is now back from being on loan at Hereford."
