Halifax Apply For Administration

Halifax Town have applied for Administration with a winding up order due to be heard on Monday.

The winding up order, brought by a former Chairman for a four figure sum, has now been postponed. Begbies Traynor have stepped in as the Administrators with former Crawley finance watcher Rob Sadler one of those placed in charge of the club. The Administration hearing will take place on March 26th.

The club are just 12 points clear of the relegation zone and will lose ten points for entering Administration, and the news comes just hours after the rubber stamp was finally applied to the completion of The Shay after several years of standstill on the half-built stadium.

The club have consistently struggled financially since falling back into the Conference in 2002. Their day to day affairs have been run by a consortium of local businessmen who will not formally complete a takeover until they have control of sufficient shares.
