Dennis Wise spoke to the press after the game at Edgar Street.
"I don't think we gave a good account of ourselves," said Wise.
"We can perform better than we did but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt with Carlisle, Bournemouth and now Hereford this week.
"It's been a long time travelling and hard work for them. I think they gave it as much as possible, but unfortunately we were a bit below-par.
"I thought we looked tired and jaded.
"It's not an upset, we've got to play them at our place now so we'll see how we go in a week or so's time.
"It was a cup final for them, having mighty Leeds at Hereford. They wanted to upset us, but they didn't.
"It would have been nice to get the tie finished, but we've got another game now and we'll get on.
"We could have done without another game, but we're still in the cup and that's the main thing."
