This from the Non-League Daily:
After the FA Cup draw for the First Round was made when Hereford United were drawn at home to Leeds United, Chris Wells jokingly said to fellow Pegasus Juniors' director Kevin Bishop - a life-long Leeds United fan - "I will contact Leeds to offer them Old School Lane for training." Little did they realise the irony of the comment!
Bishop subsequently received a telephone call from Gwyn Williams, technical director at Leeds United, asking if his club could use the facilities at the Sport Italia Hellenic League club for training prior to the game at Edgar Street.
Initially Bishop thought this call was a joke at the instigation of Chris Wells, but Williams was able to convince him the call was genuine!
Bishop readily agreed to the request and tentative arrangements were agreed with Williams visiting the ground last Saturday.
Williams was impressed with the set-up and readily agreed to use Old School Lane for training.
He explained his contact in the area, an ex-professional player, recommended the club facilities.
Pegasus Juniors put the whole Old School Lane complex at the disposal of the professional club.
Leeds United players, with manager Denis Wise and new assistant Dave Bassett, trained behind closed doors prior to the game with Hereford.
Afterwards, the manager and his players signed autographs for a small number of Pegasus Juniors` youngsters who support Leeds.
Wells said: "This was an honour for Pegasus Juniors Football Club to have Leeds United request the use of the ground for training.
"Denis and Dave were very complimentary about the set-up at Old School Lane and particularly the main pitch. It is some recognition for all concerned to see the fruits of the hard work being used by such a big club.
"Perhaps, other clubs will follow the example of Leeds United and use the ground in the future. The club could only dream of this situation five years ago when we moved here."
