Hartlepool Globetrotters coming to Hereford

To go from Hartlepool to Leeds isn't too far. To go from Hartlepool to Hereford is quite a way but that's what Danny Wilson, the Hartlepool manager, has to look forward to in just ten days time when his team will travel to Edgar Street for the FA Cup second round fixture against the Bulls after Leeds were dispatched from the competition.

In fact Hartlepool have the daunting task of visiting Gillingham this weekend, Swansea in mid-week and then Hereford. They will travel close to 2,000 miles in a week.

Assistant manager Ian Butterworth has suggested they should change their name to Hartlepool Globetrotters.

"Never mind Hartlepool United, people will be calling us the Hartlepool Globetrotters!" commented Butterworth.

"I think it must be some kind of Football League record to be doing all those miles in just one week.

"We can't let it affect us - we have to just get on with it because travelling is part and parcel of the game and it's just how things have worked out."

Meanwhile manager Danny Wilson, who watched last night's game at Elland Road, has told his club's official website that his squad will be up for the tie.

"Last time we went there (Edgar Street) we didn't do ourselves justice. We'll have to be on top of our game if we want to progress."

The site noted that neighbours Darlington would testify to Hereford's recent form having let in five goals on their visit to Edgar Street nearly two weeks ago.
