An article on the Altrincham website has illustrated the costs associated with FA Cup games. Whilst the club involved is Barrow, the costs would be much the same for Hereford who meet Leeds at Edgar Street.
Meanwhile Barrow's Holker Street Newsletter reports that "When the FA Cup First Round is reached, it's normal to expect that it will be a money-spinner for the club, but, perhaps, what isn't realised are the extra costs associated with such a game". Barrow meet Bournemouth at Holker Street next Saturday when we take on Millwall.
Bournemouth can 'claim' the following:
15% of tickets if in a fully segregated area
50 Complimentary tickets
Accommodation expenses of up to 25 personnel at £100 each = £2500
Travelling expenses of £6 per coach mile, Bournemouth to Barrow is 317 miles= £1902
Costs of supplying match officials: Referee £235, Linesmen £120 each, Fourth official £50 (£225 if a referee) = £525 to £700 plus expenses.
Add to all this the cost of printing tickets (the match is all ticket), Police charges, gatemen, turnstile operators, stewards, first aiders and a doctor and the bill is rising fast.
The 'claim' comes out of the gate receipts before they are shared between the two clubs.
It would also be interesting to know who has the complimentary tickets.
