The Football League chairmen have voted to amend the rules for going into Administration.
From now on any side entering Administration after the fourth Thursday in March will have the penalty suspended until the end of the season. At the end of the season, if the ten point deduction causes the club to be relegated it will be imposed that season but the penalty will be imposed the following season if it does not affect their status in the current season.
"I am delighted that clubs have backed their board so strongly on this issue," said Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney, "The changes we have made enable the League's 'Sporting Sanctions' regulations to remain true to their original aim. Clubs should suffer a sporting penalty as a consequence of going into administration, as this acts as a spur to better financial management."
