League Withhold Boston Cash

The Football League have withheld a £100,000 payment to Boston United, according to manager Steve Evans.

A Football League spokesman was unable to shed light on the story when contacted by a reporter from the Lincolnshire Echo, but Evans told the paper: "The chairman, Jim Rodwell, told me the League is holding up a payment of around £100,000, even though every other club got theirs on Tuesday. Given the situation we're in, it doesn't help us at all."

The league had voiced their concerns over the club's future, with the player's due to be two months wages short on Monday. The water was cut off on Monday, and the club is due in court over unpaid rent and taxes over the next couple of months.

Evans insists the club will complete the season, even if he has to play 'children', with just nine professionals available for game with Chester after Drewe Broughton was refused permission to play against his parent club: "The young players - who are essentially children - we will be bringing in are five million miles away from being ready."
