Conference Name New Sponsor

The Football Conference will be known next season as the Blue Square Premier after a deal was struck with the betting firm. The feeder divisions will be known as Blue Square Northern and Blue Square Southern as part of the deal which has been agreed for three years. It will end the nine year sponsorship of Nationwide.

Cheltenham have been refused permission by the Football League to sign a goalkeeper under the emergency loan rules. Only reserve stopper Scott Brown is available to the club for the remainder of the season as they battle against relegation.

Brentford will enter League Two next season with a new manager after Scott Fitzgerald quit following their relegation on Monday. Assistant Alan Reeves, also the assistant at Swindon when they were relegated last season, has also left the club.

Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan has been fined £1,000 and given a severe warning as to his future conduct after being found guilty of violent conduct after the stormy Shrewsbury-Chester match last November. Vaughan had denied the charge.
