Weymouth Report Massive Loss

Weymouth's accounts for the 2005/06 season show the club lost £1.22million chasing promotion to the Conference, after recording a £993,000 loss the season before.

The club paid former manager Steve Claridge £228,000 in severance pay after sacking him 15 months into a five year £1,000 a week deal, and borrowed over £900,000 from chairman Martyn Harrison's company.

The club generated turnover of less than half the total loss, even discounting the payout to Claridge and the accounts show that the club owed £2.1million at the end of the period in May 2006.

In other news, the official Conference website reports the transfer of ex-Bull Matt Baker: "The 6ft stopper was an integral part of the Hereford side that returned to the Football League as Nationwide Conference champions during the 2003/04 season."
