Mansfield Up For Sale

Mansfield Town has today been officially put up for sale ahead of a proposed fans boycott of the next home game.

Chairman James Derry has confirmed that major shareholder Keith Haslam has put his stake up for sale, telling the official Mansfield website: "I am notifying all agencies of the media today that the club is up for sale. There is no question about that and no one should be left in any doubt what so ever that this is my position. I look forward to receiving expressions of genuine interest and in the mean time my immediate responsibilities remain MTFC players and staff and their continued financial security at the club."

Haslam has been the subject of intense fan criticism in recent months, with fans paying last week for a light aircraft to fly over their last home match with a 'Haslam Out' banner. He has been accused of milking the club for his own benefit and fans have organised a boycott of next Friday's home match with Macclesfield.

If sold, they follow Peterboro and Torquay in changing ownership. Boston are also the subject of protracted takeover talks.
