A 4,000 crowd saw Accrington grab a late goal to beat ten man Torquay 1-0. The Gulls saw a man sent off early in the second half but held on for most of the remaining time until Peter Cavanagh scored a last minute free kick. Torquay remain six points adrift at the bottom with eight games left, while Accrington put some breathing space between them and the bottom two.
Wrexham occupy the second relegation spot after their 2-1 loss to MK Dons, getting a man sent off again in the process. Boston won to leapfrog the Dragons, 2-1 at Mansfield, but they also had a man sent off to further stretch their threadbare squad. Macclesfield are three points clear of the drop after a last minute penalty saw them grab a point at local rivals Bury, who are on the same 38 point total.
At the top, Hartlepool remain three points clear after coming back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Stockport. Second placed Walsall could not take advantage, drawing 0-0 with Wycombe. The Chairboys hold on to the final play-off spot from Darlington by a single point. Swindon slip out of the automatic spots as they lost 1-0 at Grimsby, with Lincoln taking advantage to move up with a 1-0 win over Barnet. In the other result Bristol Rovers beat Notts County 2-0, moving the Pirates back into the chasing pack with games in hand.
