Aldershot are considering returning to part-time status after they reported a £200,000 loss for the 2005/06 at this week's AGM.
Losses are already mounting for this season and the club are running perilously close to their overdraft limit at the bank. They expect to lose around £75,000 this season after tightening their belts in the summer, but gates have fallen from their play-off season as the team struggled on the pitch.
At the AGM club officials confirmed that only a good FA Cup run this season, where the club received £40,000 in prize money for reaching the third round, stopped the club from entering Administration.
Aldershot entered the Conference with an average gate of 3,300, but this season recent gates have dropped below 2,000 as the club struggle seven points off the play-off pace. The club, founded out of the ashes of the former Aldershot Town, have no benefactor and have restrictive ownership rules preventing an investor taking more than 20% of the club.
