Hot on the heels of Monday's trip to Wycombe, the Bulls find themselves making the relatively short journey to Bristol on Friday evening for the FA Cup match against Bristol Rovers. Kick Off is 7.45pm.
Memorial Stadium, Filton Avenue, Horfield, Bristol. BS7 0BF (distance 50 miles)
I would advise travelling via the Ross road (A49) then taking the A4137 after Harewood End and through St Owens Cross to join the A40 south towards Monmouth. The road becomes the A449 south of Monmouth and continues to the M4 where you should join the M4 east (sign Bristol/London). After crossing the Severn Bridge join the M5 South. Leave the M5 at junction 16 (sign Filton/Thornbury) and join the A38 (south) towards Bristol City Centre. The stadium is about 5 miles from junction 16. Stay on the A38 passing the British Aerospace Works and look for the Royal George and Duke of York pubs. At the next lights, you will see the Memorial Stadium signposted to the left and the ground is just a hundred yards or so down this road. Parking is mostly in the streets around the stadium. The Bridge crossing is free when travelling towards Bristol but you may wish to return via Gloucester to avoid the £5 charge!
Once again, train travel looks a "no-go" as the return journey does not get into Hereford until 01.36!
For the September League game Bristol Police directed thirsty fans to The Gloucester Arms which is on Gloucester Road about 400 yards before the turning to the stadium. I would imagine (unconfirmed) that the same Alehouse would be available on Friday for pre-match refreshments. The Pub is a sizeable unit with Sky TV and offers a good range of fluid including at least one real ale. I will post an update if I hear any changes from Bristol police.
