News Round Up

At least they're trying - Torquay have been rebuffed in two transfer attempts. After draining the local sunday leagues of talent, the Gulls have turned to actual professional footballers in an attempt to stay up. Wolves keeper Michael Oakes has rejected the chance to move to Plainmoor, believing he still can perform at a higher level, and Barnet forward Guiliano Grazioli has also turned down a loan move to the League's bottom club. The Gulls are looking at MK Dons full back Jamie Smith, who worked with coach Colin Lee at Wolves.

Shrewsbury have agreed to cancel the contracts of veteran midfielder Neil Sorvel and young pair Gavin Cadwallader and Marco Addagio. Sorvel is expected to join Morecambe, while the young pair are being targeted by Bangor and Newtown. The Shrews have now released six players in January with a seventh, winger Dale Williams, expected to also depart. Barnet are to appeal both red cards received by their players in Saturday's loss to MK Dons. The straight red cards given to Ian Hendon and Dean Sinclair were given by referee Andre Marriner, who has reffed in the Premiership this season, for an elbow and serious foul play.

Lincoln have released midfielder Richard Kell after his short term deal expired. The former Barnsley player failed to make an impression on the first team. The Imps have signed former Boston loanee Danny N'Guessan from Rangers on a two year deal.

Peterboro have loaned goalkeeper Luke McShane to Gravesend after the arrival of Shwan Jalal pushed him down to third choice. York have rejected a 'substantial' bid from Scunthorpe for Clayton Donaldson. Donaldson was a target for Wolves, who have now signed Andy Keogh from Scunthorpe. Boston have released teenage midfielder Dan Cotton by mutual consent, and allowed striker Paul Tait to join Southport on a permanent basis after a loan spell.
