Ex Players Round Up

In the Premiership, Gavin Mahon captained Watford but couldn't stop his side crashing to a 3-0 home defeat by Liverpool.

In the Championship, Cardiff City were without the injured Paul Parry, as they crashed to a home defeat to bottom side Southend. Michael McIndoe claimed an assist as Wolves were held 1-1 at Stoke, John Eustace sat on the bench but failed to make an appearence. Gavin Williams played for Ipswich but saw his side lose at Sunderland.

In League One, one time Hereford loanee Karl Hawley started up front for Carlisle, but the Cumbrian side lost 3-2 at struggling Northampton. Neil MacKenzie was an un-used sub as high flying Scunthorpe were held by promotion hopefuls Oldham, a result which sees Nottingham Forest capitalise as they return to the top of the table.

In League Two, David Brown scored once again for Accrington but saw his side defeated by play-off hopefuls Notts County at the Fraser Eagle Stadium. Nicky Nicolau started as Barnet claimed three points at home to Macclesfield, whilst Michael Rose also started, this time for Stockport as they also claimed three points at home to Boston. Ryan Green returned as a late sub for Bristol Rovers as the Gas won 1-0 at Rochdale.

In the Conference, John Grant couldn't score for Aldershot as they were defeated by struggling Crawley. Cambridge United, without Jon Brady, fell to a home defeat against Stafford Rangers, who fielded Neil Grayson up front.

In the Carlsberg FA Trophy, Adam Stansfield came on for Exeter but The Grecians fell to a 1-0 home defeat, by Kidderminster Harriers, who fielded Brian Smikle. Craig Stanley started for Morecambe, as they stuffed Mangotsfield 5-0 at Christie Park. Craig Mawson kept goal for Halifax, as they came away with a credible draw at Oxford. Anwar Uddin started for top of the Conference Dagenham, but they were shocked as lowly placed Conference North outfit Redditch United defeated them 3-2. Paul Harrison started in goal for Southport, with Chris Lane also playing, but they were beaten by Sailsbury. Another former Hereford goalkeeper, this time Scott Tynan, also was given a start, as Rushden came away from Witton Albion with a narrow 1-0 victory.
