How to get to Morecambe

The last time Hereford United played at the Christie Park only around 80 supporters were able to make the Tuesday evening game. Next Sunday at least 1,200 will be there.

Below are a few details on how to get to the ground:(Much of the following information comes from the Official Morecambe website.)

Christie Park has a capacity of approximately 6400 with a seating capacity of 1200 in The Main Stand. Part of the main stand and all of the Car Wash Terrace will be given over to Hereford United supporters next Sunday. Those fans who have been to Christie Park before are often surprised to see an executive box in the middle of the away terrace. The turnstiles at the side of The Umbro Stand are intended for away supporters.

Directions to Christie Park:

From Herefordshire EITHER take the A49 as far as the junction for the M56 and then the M6 OR go to Worcester and join the M5 and then the M6. (Allow upto four hours for the journey.)

Leave the M6 Motorway at Junction 34 and follow the signs for Lancaster along Caton Road. Travel along this road until you come to a set of traffic lights. Follow the signs for Morecambe. You will then pass behind the Kingsway building and the dry cleaners. On your left will be Halfords, Curry's and Comet.

There is now an option to turn left into the city centre or to carry on. Carry on, still following the signs for Morecambe. You are now on Morecambe Road. You will pass the Castle which is up on the hill to your left. You will also pass Riversway House which is on the right. Travel along this road until you reach the roundabout.

At the roundabout, go straight ahead, you will reach another roundabout and you will see McDonalds on the left. Carry straight on at this roundabout. You will now reach yet another roundabout with five junctions, you should take the second junction which takes you down Lancsater Road. You will then pass a petrol station and, as you do so, Christie Park will become visible on your left.

The car park entrance is on the left just before the ground. Parking is usually
plentiful and free but with so many Hereford United supporters attending this game space will be at a premium.

As ever HUISA are running coaches to Morecambe. The cost is £18 and coaches will leave Edgar Street around 11am. For more details call the club on 01432276666

For those fans thinking of staying in Morecambe for a night or so or just wanting a pre-match pint or two, the York Hotel is close to the ground and is said to be a firm favourite of many football fans.
