Bulls canter to a draw

Hereford United could only draw against Dagenham this afternoon in a game of two penalties.

They stay in second place although Halifax defeated Southport and therefore closed the gap on the Bulls.

In truth this was a pretty dull affair with few shots on target. Rob Purdie converted a penalty for the Bulls in the second half, but Dagenham also converted a penalty after one of their strikers was adjudged to have been impeded by a Bulls player.

Top of the Conference:

1 Accrington Stanley 38 30 82
2 Hereford 38 22 70
3 Halifax 37 13 67
4 Stevenage 38 16 64
5 Grays Athletic 35 27 62
6 Morecambe 38 18 62
7 York 37 21 61

Potential Points Table:
Accrington Stanley 94
Grays Athletic 83
Hereford 82
Halifax 82
Stevenage 76
York 76
Morecambe 74

Hereford United now need 7 more points to be certain of a play-off place. As matters stand at present they could meet Halifax in the play-offs.

Meanwhile Accrington Stanley will have to wait until at least next Saturday to be sure of winning the Conference title. In essence they are there, but both Grays, Halifax and Hereford could in theory win. However Accrington would need to lose all their remaining games by a fairly large margin and one of the other teams win all theirs also by a reasonable margin.
