Doubts have been cast on Crawley's owners, the SA Group, being worth as much as they've claimed.
The original press release at the time of the takeover last summer reported the group's turnover as £50million but research by The Argus newspaper, reprinted on the informative Altrincham website, claims that the two main companies of the SA Group were worth less than £50,000 in their last filed accounts in 2004, and that two other companies associated with the SA Group had gone bust that year.
Chas Majeed, the head of the SA Group, claims that an investor pulling out has caused the problems Crawley now face, and a spokesman for the board has confirmed that the club is trying to stave off Administration. Majeed also told The Argus that his off-licence operation, SA Retail, of was about to announce a £500,000 profit.
Meanwhile, Aldershot are believed to be lining up a double swoop for Crawley pair Sacha Opinel and Ian Simpemba. Both were omitted from last Saturday's squad.
