Scouts Flock To Edgar Street

A string of Premiership and Championship clubs have been represented at Edgar Street over the last couple of games.

Newcastle, Manchester City, Charlton, Coventry, Crewe, and Sheffield Wednesday have all had scouts visiting Edgar Street over the last couple of weeks, along with a string of lower league clubs.

The trio of Premiership clubs watched Andy Williams bag a brace of goals against Cambridge but were reluctant to reveal the target of their scouting, though a League Two scout was openly admitting that he was there to watch the young striker.

Defender Tamika Mkandawire, who has gained a string of admirers this season with glowing references coming from several opposition managers, is also a likely target for the scouts along with Williams and fellow striker Adam Stansfield with five goals in nine games since coming back from injury.

Crewe sent two different scouts to the two recent games - a tactic often used for a second opinion when a bid is being considered. While no transfer could be completed immediately, most of the squad are out of contract at the end of the season - meaning pre-contract agreements can be signed with immediate effect.
