Cambridge Set To Sign Darby

Cambridge United are set to unveil ex-Shrewsbury striker Duane Darby as the answer to their scoring problem.

The 32 year old bruiser was released by Shrewsbury during the transfer window, meaning he is free to sign for another club. Kidderminster are also believed to have bid for his services.

Darby hit 24 goals during Rushden's successful title season in 2001, alongside recent Cambridge signing Jon Brady. He also scored nine in the Conference for Shrewsbury, but struggled to be more than a fringe player at Gay Meadow this season scoring just twice.

In other Conference news, York have cancelled the contract of 20 year old striker Lev Yashin by mutual consent. The former Turkish youth international has failed to live up to his reputation, and has only been a bit player this season.
