NLP Reports Crawley's Bids For Elding

Today's Non-League Paper reports that managerless Crawley have made two bids for Stevenage forward Anthony Elding.

Having had a £50,000 bid rejected by the Herts club, Crawley are reported to have upped the offer to £75,000. Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace recently hit out at an un-named Conference club for illegally approaching Elding after the player fell out yet again with manager Graham Westley.

The paper also reports that Leeds United are the latest side to show an interest in George Boyd, quoting Elland Road chief scout Ian McNeill as having provided a glowing reference to manager Kevin Blackwell on the 20 year old winger.

In other NLP news, Tamika Mkandawire was named in the Team Of The Week for the second successive week.

Newly appointed England Assistant Manager Steve Burr has described critics of manager Paul Fairclough as "bitter": "The top and bottom of it is that Paul Fairclough as an England manager at this level is as good as anyone. When you've got somebody who's that good at their job, I can't see how they can be criticised. On Tuesday there were signs that this team can really do something. I feel they have a great chance of winning the competition."
