Harvey to miss three months

Morecambe Football Club chairman, Peter McGuigan, spoke to local press this morning about manager Jim Harvey who was taken to hospital last Saturday.

"Jim is stable and looks quite well as he undergoes his tests. He is hoping to be out of hospital by the end of this week.

"In the very short term Jim Bentley and Dick Danson will be responsible for the team.

"In the longer term we hope to appoint a caretaker manager for a period which will be dictated by the length of time it takes for Jim to make a full recovery to enable him to rejoin the club. Jim is fully aware of what we are planning. I have seen him in hospital and have spoken to him about these arrangements and we will be keeping him and his family informed of any appointments we make.

Chief executive, Rod Taylor added: "We have had a lot of goodwill messages from supporters and from outside the club which is really appreciated by us and by Jim.

"This season still has a long way to go and there's a lot to play for.

"We are well respected as a club and there are some good football managers out there who are not currently in work. I am confident we can get someone in of a high calibre who will come and help us out for a few months."
