Speaking to the Barking and Dagenham Post, Daggers Chairman Dave Andrews insisted the loan and eventual sale of star striker Tresor Kandol to Darlington was not the signal for a financial crisis.
"John knew what was needed when he sat down with Tresor and it's the right deal for the club. It's always been Dagenham's policy that we would never stand in the way of any player who wants to leave. Yes, Tresor was getting better and better for us but selling him means that if John wants to bring in anyone, he might be able to do so. I still think we can get into the play-offs this season though but we'll be able to have a real go next season. We won't have to borrow any more money and hopefully be able to bring in some players and push on more."
