Former Bull John Williams, once dubbed "The Flying Postman" after winning a fastest player competition, has enlisted the PFA for help in a dispute with Redditch United.
Williams, now 37 and with 17 clubs under his belt, signed what he claims to be a 12 month contract at the start of the season, but was released after just six weeks following the club's dismal start to the season:
"I was led to believe I signed a twelve-month contract, six weeks into the contract I was told I was being released. It was a knee-jerk reaction because the team was bottom of the league and not doing too well. I was told I was being released to bring in new players. I have signed a lot of contracts in my career and this has never happened to me before. It has left a bitter taste in my mouth."
The PFA have contacted the FA to resolve the dispute. Redditch have 14 days to respond to the FA's query.
