John Trewick, the Hereford United coach, told the Non League-paper after yesterday's game at Halifax that the result was a vital win.
"We knew Halifax would have a real go but we defended well. If you want to be critical you could say we didn't pass the ball as well as we can do.
"We could have knocked it around but we have done that this season and now it is all about results.
"This makes the play-offs pretty safe for us and that was our target when we could not win the league. Now our target is to win the play-offs."
Chris Wilder, the Halifax manager, admitted that his side won't make it this season.
"That's it for us. We are all bitterly disappointed but I asked the lads to give their all and they did that.
"We probably lost it by not being clinical enough in both boxes over the course of the season."
Hereford United are not there yet. They need one more point to secure a play-off place. They could acheive this on Tuesday at Woking.
