Rob Purdie told BBC Hereford and Worcester that he was pleased he converted the penalty this afternoon just after the start of the game when Adam Stansfield was pushed off the ball by a defender.
"It was definately a penalty and it was a good job that we scored really because it wasn't the best of performances. But it set us up well for the three points.
"I tried to take my time. I was looking at the keeper and made sure to kick it the other way from that he went.
"He went down to his left and I tapped it to the right.
"It wasn't a vintage display and hopefully we can improve on that against Forest Green on Tuesday. All credit to York as they are a good passing team and I think it was vital that we got the second goal before half-time, or else the second-half could have been a lot worse.
"Tam will not be happy with that (the own goal) as he said it came off his affro but I put it down to an own-goal.
"If we had of gone in 1-0 at half time and they had come out like they did second-half we could have got a bit nearvy."
Daryl Taylor is likely to miss a couple of games as he suffered what looked like a knee injury early in the second half and was replaced by Danny Williams. The other loanee, Leroy Williams, came on as a sub for Lee Mills but failed to impress.
