Bulls reach Round Two
Hereford United defeated Southport 3-1 this afternoon to go into tomorrow's draw for Round Two of the FA Cup which takes place around 4pm. A cheque for £16,000 will be in the post to Edgar Street from the FA.
Meanwhile Hereford supporters were surprised to see so many police around the ground this afternoon. And not only police but dogs and horses. One estimate suggested around 50 police were involved in the operation.
Inside the ground they had little to do other than ejecting one Southport "fan".
There was an excellent turn-out of Bulls fans who made the effort to get to the Haig Avenue to watch the game, but a noticable lack of noise from them. This might have been because there was no roof over the terrace. In fact there was little to suggest it was a cup game. There was no swede ritual and apart from Eric Redrobe, the former Southport and Hereford player, being introduced to the fans, the event was unspectacular. The refreshment stall was out of most items even before the game started.
The match attendance was 2045 and a Southport official told Bulls News that there were 700 from Hereford.
